Gaudí station

Gaudi is an underground station of the Barcelona metro that has never been in use. It is located between the L5‘s stations Sagrada Família and Sant Pau | Dos de Maig, under Gaudí avenue.

On the upper level, there is the headquarters of the associations of retired workers of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, the Barcelona’s public transport company. The underground entrance is located at the corner between 299 Lepant street and 22 Gaudí avenue.

The station was built for line 2 in the 60s, before opening this part builded for L2 was joint and transfered to line 5. With that change, Sagrada Família was too closed to Gaudí, so it was closed and never used.

Even so, it is the best preserved disused station of Barcelona. The city council has used the station to make statistical studies of passing trains, and also there were filmed advertisements. Both platforms have a length of 94 meters and it is decorated with brown marble and gray terrazzo.






Bifurcación Vilanova station

Bifurcació Vilanova or Bifurcación Vilanova is an underground railway station of Barcelona that has never been used. This ghost station is near bridge Marina, between Arc de Triomf and El Clot-Aragó stations. It was part of the project Barcelona rail links plan (Pla d’Enllaços Ferroviaris de Barcelona), in particular the branch of Vilanova-Sagrera to link Sants station (Vilafranca line) with Granollers and Manresa lines.

The station would replace the old Estación del Norte (North Station), also called Vilanova station or Vilanova-Norte (Vilanova-Nord). The construction lasted 4 years, the works were delivered in 1974 with 318-meter-long platforms, arranged in four tracks and two central platforms. It had a connection with Marina L1 Metro station.

The remains

You can still see the in the Marina metro station the text “Renfe Metro” engraved and there still are the access enabling the transfers between the two stations, even though they are closed.

Mountain side platform was destroyed in the early 90s because the Mataró suburban line interfere with the Meridiana tunnel exit, but the sea side platform still exists and can be seen in the way between Arc de Triomf and El Clot-Aragó.

Fire and chaos in Renfe

On February 9 2016, the station was the origin of a fire due to the accumulation of waste which caused a lot of smoke in the tunnels of Rodalies de Catalunya and Line 1 of Barcelona metro.
